The Main house is set in a courtyard setting of out buildings, that has had the main Granary, Livestock Building and Cart Shed developed into a wonderful luxury development of 4 Holiday Cottages. We have received our 5* rating from Visit Britain, and we launched this newly completed development on the 4th May 2012.

There is a very useful parade of shops in Bishopthorpe Road, 2 minutes away, and several of York’s cosiest traditional pubs are nearby an elevated residential enclave within the famous York city walls and about 7-15 minutes walk from York rail station, Minster, theatres, cinema, Clifford’s Tower and other attractions.

    Mackinder Farms Holiday Accommodation is situated on a working arable farm and the environment encourages wild bird and animal life. Rabbits, hares, and (if you’re lucky!) deer are to be seen close to the accommodation, and many species of birds. There are good walks nearby (no need to take the car out!), the golf course is a par five away, and the village of Brayton with church, chapel, excellent butcher and a small Tesco are approximately one mile away. Selby, a small market town with an historic Abbey, restaurants and supermarkets is a further mile away.

    Situated in the traditional heart of the village of Askrigg, Sykes’s House is thought to have been built around 1687 and can be found opposite the beautiful 15th century church of St Oswald’s. The building has undergone many changes over the years, from being a family home to having once been a Temperance Hotel. Now, it is a thriving village store with a tea room as well as having two large Bed and Breakfast en-suite letting rooms. There is a large secure covered courtyard that can accommodate bicycles and has plenty of room for any maintenance you may need to do. Wet coats can be left here overnight rather than dripping in your room!

    Our Victorian house is close to the paths and the cliff lift to the Scarborough Spa complex and south bay beach. We are on a quiet street close to the cliff top and there are good walks from the guest house to the sand, the sea and the waves, to cafes, gardens, and along the route of the Cleveland Way. We are a short stroll along the Esplanade and over the Spa Bridge into town and an even shorter stroll to the local shops in Ramshill and there are pubs, bars and restaurants nearby. Free parking is included in your stay and we also have secure cycle parking and drying facilities for cyclists, walkers... and anyone who gets wet (which hardly ever happens due to the glorious weather in sunny Scarborough!) Families are welcome.
