As we at North Yorkshire Cycling can testify, Yorkshire True Grit launched in 2016 and left a lasting impression on those who took part and now it is back for 2017 aiming to be bigger and better!

The Night Before
Yorkshire True Grit billed itself as Yorkshire’s first gravel biking event ,taking in a combination of gravel tracks and trails. Riders on the Outlaw route were promised “an off road cycling challenge that will take you across the stunning North York Moors using a combination of public bridleways and private tracks…. Based on the popular American Gravel Grinder format, Yorkshire True Grit will test your endurance like no other cycling event.”
Yorkshire Lass Cycling Club (YLCC) celebrated its first charity sportive on 14 August with over 300 riders joining organisers Kate Horsfall of Wetherby, Judith Worrall of Thirsk and Ali Tiffin of Leeds in an event which will have raised in the region of £11,000 for women’s cancer charities.
Always keen to keep an eye on developments in the North Yorkshire cycling scene, we grabbed a few minutes with Yorkshire True Grit gravel sportive organiser Andrew Wright to learn a bit more about his upcoming challenge
So, a confession. This site’s called North Yorkshire Cycling. Its purpose is to celebrate cycling in Yorkshire. I’ve lived in Yorkshire all my life. And yet it’s only really in adulthood that I became patriotic about a County that is known the world over for being fiercely proud of itself. So what took so long?
Gone are the days of stuffy conference rooms and sticky name badges. Business people are beginning to take on a whole new approach to meeting new customers and connections.
It’s pretty obvious from this blog that we’re big fans of cycling, and in North Yorkshire especially. But there are times when we need to come out of our comfort zones and explore new areas, and when you’re doing that there’s nothing like having local knowledge to get you around. And when that local knowledge also includes full mechanical support and a team of terrific ride leaders you know you’re on to a winner.
